The prints of the edition one | timeframe are offered without a frame and passepartout, enabling you to purchase a frame separately - in a style that fits perfectly to your home or office. To help you choose a frame and mount, you will find the exact dimensions of our prints here, as well as suggestions for frame and according passepartout sizes. Custom-made passepartouts can be purchased at your local art store or ordered online at low cost.

If you have never framed an image with a passepartout before, feel free to have a lot at our Framing Tutorial.
It's actually a lot easier than you might think!

General information about passepartouts

Although you don’t have to, we strongly recommend matting your print. Not only does the mat help highlight the artwork, but it also acts as protection, because the glass or acrylic does not come in direct contact with the print.
In general, each side of the passepartout around the actual artwork should be roughly two inches (or around five centimetres) wide. For smaller images you can go a bit tighter, for larger ones wider. The outer dimensions of the passepartout has to match the size of your frame, whereas the opening size should be approximately 1/2 inch (or around one centimetre) tighter than the print.

Examples:

Ordered image: “A Tyrol Tidbit“, Size Large (Aspect ratio 3:2)

Print size: 36”x24"

Frame recommendation: 40“x28" (giving room for 2 inches of passepartout on each side)

Passepartout outer dimensions: 40"x28" (matching the size of the frame)

Passepartout opening: 35.5"x23.5" (enabling a 1/4" passepartout overlap on each side)

Ordered image: “Daddy is coming“, Size Medium (Aspect ratio 4:5)

Print size: 40,64 cm x 50,8 cm

Frame recommendation: 50 cm x 60 cm (giving room for around 5 centimetres of passepartout on each side)

Passepartout outer dimensions: 50 cm x 60 cm (matching the size of the frame)

Passepartout opening: 39,6 cm x 49,8 cm (enabling around 1/2 centimetre of passepartout overlap on each side)
